UKA Members honoured by SOBHD
15th November 2008
Wilma Tolmie, Dundee Scotland, was honoured by the SOBHD at it's annual AGM on 15th November 2008.
She was presented with the prestigeous Atholl Clasp in recognition of her services to the SOBHD and her career as a dancer and teacher.
WIlma, who herself won the Adult World Championship in 1965, has taught no fewer than 12 world championships in the period from 1985 to 2004.
She has been a mainstay of the SOBHD, initially representing Australia and then being elected as an Independant and then Honorary member. For more than a decade she was active on both technical and judges committees acting in the capacity of convenor.
Wilma is a UKA Fellow Member and Examiner.
Also, at the SOBHD AGM on the 15th November 2008, Billy Forsyth, MBE, was elected as an Honorary member in recognition of his lifetime of service to the SOBHD.
To many, Billy is seen as the person who shaped the modern SOBHD as we know it now, introducing many of it's benefits such as the world wide registration scheme.
Billy has acted as an Office Bearer for over 25 years initially as Chairman and then President.
In 2007 he was made an MBE.
Congratulations to both Billy and Wilma!
The UKA is proud of both of you.
