The UKA exam syllabus has been created by dance professionals to inspire students to achieve their personals goals and milestones. The colourful awards are the best in the business, providing a delightful reward for the student's hard work.

The exams have been developed to provide dancers of all levels with a structured progression from music and movement to Highland and Scottish National technique, from written submissions to theory presentations.

Youngsters
The UKA UNI-TED Award Scheme (designed for ages 6 & under) is designed to be varied according to the age and ability of the child and are completely at the Teacher's discretion. This award is broken down into 6 exams; Master Plaque, Blue Badge, Green Badge, Orange Badge, Yellow Badge and Red Badge. Children will enjoy the thrill of adding badges to their plaque as they progress through the exams.

Highland Exams
The UKA Highland exams are available from ages 4 upwards. Introductory Awards are especially suited before Pre-Bronze, but can be used throughout the syllabus as a progression through the grades.
In addition to the set criteria for Bronze, Bronze Bar, Silver, Silver Bar, Gold and Gold Bar, One-Dance Medals may be taken using any dance of suitable steps chosen by the Teacher.
With the introduction of Choreography Awards, the UKA Highland syllabus provides challenges for students of all ages and all standards.

National Exams
The UKA Introductory tests provide an opportunity for younger students to gain early experience of the basic movements used in the Scottish National Dances. They receive Centre Awards for the dances taken as they progress through the Introductory syllabus.
The Bronze, Silver, Gold and Thistle exams further introduce dancers through all the steps and movements that comprise the Scottish National Dances in a challenging but fun format.
